Description[]
Nogami Gensai (野上玄斎) is a samurai tasked with protecting the young lord Kuro.
He offers Wolf to join forces against Juzou the Drunkard and his bandits.
Location[]
- Hirata Estate - Main Hall: by the pond just before Juzou the Drunkard.
- In the alternate version of the Hirata Estate memory, his corpse is found on the ground with a Fistful of Ash in his hand, next to Juzou the Drunkard and Lone Shadow Masanari the Fellblade.
Behaviour and Tactics[]
Perilous Thrust:: thrusts a far reaching distance in front of him.- Forward Slash: steps forward, slashing diagonally.
- Jab: jabs forward with his elbow, follows by an off-handed slash. Sometimes he may slashes before chaining this attack.
- Overhead Swing: raises his katana and waits for a brief moment, then brings down his sword in a slash.
- Recover: becomes engulfed in a bright aura while restoring Posture.
- Retreat: slashes down and steps back concurrently.
Fights exactly like one of Isshin's Junior Pupils.
It's recommended to employ Nogami's help only after removing one of Juzou's healthbars, otherwise he probably won't survive the battle. It's not necessary to progress through his dialogues for him to join the fray, as he'll start attacking as soon as an enemy gets near him.
He's extremely susceptible to Poison. Since he can't properly fight back against the Shield-Wielding Bandits and the Archer Bandit, the player should prioritize getting rid of these enemies first.

Notes[]
- Can't be infected by Dragonrot.
- Wolf can't harm him while Nogami is helping the shinobi fight the bandits.
- If killed while fighting the Bandits, he'll keep on respawning as long as Juzuo is alive.
- Once Juzuo is defeated, Gensai will disappear from the game for the rest of the playthrough, upon reloading the area.
