Gecko is a specific, small to average sized type of lizard, while lizard is a broader descriptor. source
I'm not sure about the Piranha, but since the game features carps, including one massive aggressive one, I think we're safe to call them also carps, especially because apart from the teeth/mouth, it is shaped much more like a carp, rather than a piranha (see images). Until there is an official guide that names the enemies, as long as we have a name that people can associate with the enemies, we should be fine.
I think this guy isn't a carp at all. His eyes are placed wierd and his mouth is shaped not like a carp's mouth. I found these pictures of an enemy and a real-life piranha. (And also a carp for comparison)
Carps also don't have any teeth at all, if I'm not mistaken. And all of them have these small whiskers and a bit elongated mouth looking like a tube of some sorts.
You made a good point, I think you're right, I can see the resemblance better now, especially the reddish colour on the bottom side of the fish. I think there were talks about there being some official enemy names coming at some point, I dont remember the source of this however.
I agree with you - it'd be more suitable for it to be called a Piranha, but I think also that the fact that the enemy is so unimportant and that it's been named Carp for so long, it's probably better not to rename it at this point (until we get official names, if ever).
On an unrelated note, if you have any feedback on the Wiki's layout, navigation, or anything else, I'd be very happy to hear it!
Actually, I'd like to tell you something, but promise me you won't be angry.
I'm one of the guys who are making russian Sekiro wiki right now, along with Aurbis, Hopop337 and DARTH---ALEXIEL, and we actually want to cooperate. Right now there are some kind of debates on our wiki, we can't decide how we should name some of the enemies.
Why would I be angry? :) I did see your contributions, I saw you were involved with the RU Wiki. Hi Hopop!
I'm happy to help in any way I can. The Sekiro Wiki has its own Discord if you guys want to join it, might be easier to coordinate/cooperate that way. I can make you a RU channel there if you'd like, where you could talk amongst yourselves, and with other RU contributors - we have something like that for the Hollow Knight Wiki Discord, where each language Wiki has its own channel where contributors can talk in their own language. Let me know if this is something you'd like me to set up on the server.
In the meanwhile, what are the current debates on enemy names or on other topics?
And also I want to split the enemies with categories such as "Beasts", "Red-eyed" and "Apparition-type" (Because of the loading screens once again), but the admin won't let me. DARTH ALEXIEL highly respects you and I thought you could help us to solve this conflict
And I've already told you that the Gecko's name is Crawling Gecko, and the enemy fish name, though not stated, can be interpreted as absolutely anything, but not "carp", because, obviously, carps don't eat meat.
Do you remember what Aurbis said to you about Emma?
" Англоязычные вики не являются авторитенее нашей, или любой другой вики на любом другом языке, так как тоже редактируются просто участниками. " Do you think that TEO knows exactly how the mobs are called in the game? I don't think so, if only he didn't dig into the game's files.
(" English-language wikis are not more authoritative than ours, or any other wiki in any other language, as they are also edited simply by participants. ")
" where in the game files we can see the mob`s names? " - they do not have names in the game files, I checked myself. They all have codenames like "ch462464", not really helpful.
As for the "Lizard" - I agreed earlier in this message thread that Crawling Gecko is correct, not Lizard. I totally missed that loading screen at the time. Same for the aggressive fish, I think "man-eating fish" or "flesh-eating fish" is suitable, because it definitely isnt a carp (they dont eat meat), but calling it directly "Piranha" sounds a bit wrong, because of the word being of South American origin.
I think in your case, ingame screenshot calling the enemy "Crawling Gecko" overrides the English wiki calling it "Lizard".
The only reason I dont rename these pages on the English wiki is because these enemies are quite insignificant and they've been named a certain thing for so long, I dont want to change them now, after people are used to it. If we ever get any official names through a released art book or something like that however, i think we will change the names.
Lastly, it's true, that quite often, English wikis are not more authoritative than non-English wikis. Of course, a lot of times it's easiest to get official info in English since that's the default language for most released games. Unfortunately, this is not the case with Sekiro, as we do not have any official enemy list or even an art book to go by.
That's great! The only thing I'd be interested in confirming is, where do the names come from in this gallery? I cannot see any names on the scanned pages, did the person who scan it make the names up?

I think the translation of the artbook was done by the developers themselves until the development of the game was completed (Emma has an immortal mark), and not by localizers. If you want to see all 220 pages, use this.
Can we please have more images on the Sekiro page? Because a lot of people like to see more than just a few big images. The current selection of a few images doesn't clearly show the character from all the different angles. Fandom doesn't have a limit. Smaller thumbnails would be better.
These should also be on the page: File:Sekiro_Faces_Off.png, File:Sekiro-Okami-1.png, File:Sekiro-Prosthetic-Arm.png, File:Sekiro-Prosthetic-Arm-Katana.png, File:Sekiro-Okami-Protagonist-Face.png, File:Sekiro-Okami-Praying-Sideview.png
Hey there! I'm NinjaFatGuy, long time Wikia contributor and admin on quite a few wikis. With the game just being released, there's a lot of information and page organization that needs to be redone, and since it seems most of the admin team hasn't been as active in doing this, I'm curious to know if you'd be willing to grant me admin permissions?
I can tell there's quite a bit the wiki needs and I wouldn't doubt an extra hand in helping with vandals and bad edits wouldn't be bad considering the game has just came out and activity will increase. I'd also like to make a few changes to the wiki's CSS to allow the wiki to look nicer and templates to be utilized correctly.
Let me know what you think and I'd greatly appreciate any consideration! Thanks!
Thank you for getting in touch! I've been away unfortunately since the game's release until today on a trip so I had not had the time to play the game or to update the Wiki. The plan is to finish my first blind playthrough and then update the Wiki's structure. Help, especially from an experienced editor is always welcome, but it is important to communicate and discuss what needs to change first. Would you join the Wiki Discord (link on the right or you can use this one: https://discord.gg/kDK3Utz ) so that we have a better, more direct way to discuss this?
Nice to meet you and glad to have you on the Wiki. Please make sure you have a look at the Editing Guidelines for rules of thumb and the example pages I've prepared - these are to be used for new pages when the game comes out. We also have a Wiki Discord, you are encouraged to join it; you can do this by clicking on the Widget for it on the right, or by clicking the invite link: https://discord.gg/kDK3Utz
Well by blow us over. I mean we need to buy some content on order to get past an obstacle, like with usual with Activision (even sponsored) games. Cautious I mean by waiting a few days or so after release to see the general opinion of it.
I for one think these aren’t going to happen, but I have a few friends who say Activision is gonna mess us the game somehow. I just wanted to hear how you felt about it
I see what you mean and I agree - I will be careful myself, I would like to think that FROM would not go into a deal with anyone if they needed to do pay-to-win (or similar) content. We'll see soon enough if it's the case.
For sure, I’ve been waiting for this game ever since I saw the teaser (though I was hoping it was a Bloodborne two) It was immediately drawn in. And when it was revealed to be more of a Tenchu Reboot I was still hyped, I loved love games as well
