Prosthetic Tools
Divine Abduction Finger Whistle Flame Vent Loaded Axe
Loaded Shuriken Loaded Spear Loaded Umbrella Mist Raven
Sabimaru Shinobi Firecracker
A Shuriken Wheel Prosthetic Tool, fitted to the Shinobi Prosthetic. Costs Spirit Emblems to use.

Pull a shuriken loaded into the wheel and launch it at the target in a single, flowing motion. The swiftly thrown shuriken damage enemy Vitality and Posture, particularly against those with a tendency to take to the air.

Overview[]

Unlocked by giving the Shuriken Wheel to the Sculptor. It is found in Ashina Outskirts after the Outskirts Wall - Gate Path Sculptor's Idol, on the upper floor of a gatehouse behind a broken wall.

In its most basic form, the Loaded Shuriken serves as a straightforward ranged projectile attack for Wolf that can be thrown rapidly, though their most effective use are often the few well-timed shots. The use of Shuriken is instantaneous and among the fastest of Prosthetic Tools. Loaded Shuriken by itself is not a reliable weapon to eliminate Vitality or Posture and mostly serves as a side weapon that thrives on the situation it is used rather than the frequency, among these uses are:

  • Interrupting enemies that are recovering their Posture
  • As a weapon to take out fragile but otherwise dangerous enemies that are too nimble for Kusabimaru (eg. Shinobi Dogs)
  • As a mean to interrupt mid-air enemies; the fact that there's a universal law in the game where Projectile attacks do considerably more damage vs entities who are mid-air adds to the reward of undeflected Shuriken

Spinning Shuriken is an upgrade that adds an alternative projectile mode that can be fired by holding the Prosthetic button. These spinning shurikens would violently grind the enemy before releasing a final burst that deals roughly the same damage as a normal throw, cumulating in a considerably higher vitality and posture damage than a regular throw. Having a wind-up, these throws are harder to time against mid-air opponents but does wonders against weaker enemies considering it cost the same amount of Spirit Emblem as a normal throw.

Gouging Top adds upon the feature of the Spinning Shuriken where the alternative throw inflicts damage through Guard, making it a straightforward and somewhat useful upgrade that gives the Shuriken some use as a means to help wear down the vitality and posture of even the most reactive enemies.

Lazulite Shuriken is a powerful upgrade that considerably increases the damage of thrown shurikens and makes them able to go through enemies, hitting those behind them; for the spinning throw, the shuriken will pierce through enemy at the conclusive burst. Although the piercing effect is very unlikely useful in many situation, the damage increase of Lazulite Shuriken at the same Spirit Emblem cost easily makes the other non-deviating upgrade of the Loaded Shuriken obsolete against this upgrade.

Phantom Kunai is a deviating upgrade that changes the way the tools is used (and also the type of projectile fired), instead of a shuriken, Wolf would throw a Kunai that after hitting a target would have illusory orbs home at the target. Holding the Prosthetic button would increase the number of orbs. There is a certain distance that the orbs need before being able to properly track targets, thus a target being too close to Wolf would have the orbs fail to home.

Sen Throw is a peculiar deviating upgrade that changes the projectile into literal Sen that Wolf carries, costing him both Spirit Emblems and the game currency to use. The Sen are thrown in a horizontally spreading trajectory: the further Sen travels, the more spread apart they are from each other, meaning the throw would inflict more damage the closer the target is. The amount of Sen Wolf is carrying would determine the amount of Sen he would shoot with with both the normal and held Prosthetic button.
