The Armored Warrior (甲冑武者) is a foreigner who came from far across the southern seas in search of the waters of rejuvenation to cure his son's illness.

Behaviour and Tactics[]

  • Perilous AttackPerilous Thrust: quickly stabs his greatsword forward, dealing great damage.
  • Perilous AttackThree Hit Combo: three horizontal swings with slight delays and may end with a Perilous Thrust at any time.
  • Berserk: throws a fit then dashes forward in a feral manner, smashing his sword on the ground three times, then turn around charging in for a quick hook. Short pause afterward. Knocks him out of balance if the last hook was successfully deflected.
  • Charge: struts forwards and execute a powerful horizontal swing if Wolf is too far away.
  • Overhead Smash: raises the sword in front and smashes down.
  • Shove to Overhead: shoves then follows up with an overhead smash. He always use this move when being attack relentlessly.

Due to his armour, this enemy is immune to any form of Vitality damage, including deathblows, and so cannot be killed by conventional means.

The only way to circumvent this miniboss' defenses is to push him off the bridge on which the fight takes place, killing him instantly. To accomplish this, fill the enemy's posture and perform a deathblow: although it will not deal any damage, it will push him back, and potentially off the bridge with the correct angle.

Due to the amount of time the miniboss will remain vulnerable after filling the Posture bar, it is possible to adjust the angle from which the deathblow is performed and by extension the direction in which the enemy will be pushed.

After receiving numerous consecutive hits, the boss will be staggered for a short while.

The Loaded Axe not only deals good damage to his Posture, but can stagger the Warrior more easily than with katana swings alone.

Dialogue
First Encounter Armoured Warrior: For the sake of my son... Put down your sword.

  • Your sword cannot pierce my armor. Why do you not understand?
  • My armor is immovable. I cannot fall.
  • Ugh! Trying to topple me off the edge?! Do not kick my prized armor!
Upon Killing Wolf Armoured Warrior: Strike me all you like, I am unbreakable. My son will receive the waters...
Upon Falling off the Edge Armoured Warrior: Roberrrtttt!

Trivia[]

  • The armor implies the Armored Knight is a Portuguese warrior, as the chest plates and helmet resemble those of Nanban (Western style) Armor. Momoyama period, 16th century.
  • In Japanese, the Ninth Prayer Bead Necklace refers to the Armored Warrior as a 南蛮 (Nanban), term used in the Sengoku period to describe travelers of Spanish or Portuguese origin.
  • This enemy has strong references to Dark Souls 3:
    • His armour somewhat resembles a mix between Japanese armor and the "Lapp Set" from Dark Souls 3: The Ringed City DLC, which, ironically, is worn by an NPC who has a habit of luring people to high ledges and kicking them off.
    • His style of combat has many similarities with Slave Knight Gael.
